What is a Skin Tag?
A skin tag is a benign skin growth that looks like a small
piece of hanging skin normally attached by a small narrow piece
of skin called a stalk.

They can occur pretty much anywhere on the skin but they are
often seen on the eyelids, the neck, under arms, on the chest,
and in the groin area.
Skin tags can happen to anyone but tend to occur as people
age, most often showing up in middle age. They are harmless and
not prone to becoming cancerous if left untreated, but they can
be very unsightly.
They can also be rather annoying depending on their location
as they may snag on clothing or other things such as jewelry,
causing pain.
Skin tags usually begin as a small bump and slowly evolve
over time. It's very easy to wiggle the skin tag back and forth
but if it becomes twisted a blood clot can develop and cause
pain.
There is no method of prevention for skin tags, and they
will remain permanently unless you have them removed. A doctor
can remove it or you can remove the skin
tag at home yourself using home remedies.
Other names for skin tags are acrochordon, pedunculated
papilloma, and fibroepithelial polyp.
